Tattoo Pricing at Aloha Tattoos – Murray, Utah

A Quick Pricing Summary

There’s a lot that goes into pricing a tattoo, but many people try to compare shop to shop. Don’t fall into that trap. Pricing depends on so many factors that “hourly rates” alone don’t tell the full story.

Here’s a quick breakdown of how we price tattoos at Aloha Tattoos. This will give you a basic idea of our structure—but keep reading below to learn how we determine the cost of your tattoo.

  • $100 Minimum

    • $120 specialty minimum

    • Some areas have a higher minimum due to the skin and placement challenges. We’ll discuss these with you before we begin. No surprises.

  • $160 Per Hour – Shop Rate

    • Our hourly rates range from $140 to $250, depending on the artist, their style, and their experience. (More experience usually means a faster, more efficient, and less painful tattoo.)

    • The shop average is $160/hr.

    • Quotes are rough estimates only—final pricing depends on the actual tattoo. Always discuss your budget with your artist before your session.

    • Larger, multi-session pieces are often priced per session or per piece.

  • By the Piece – Variable

    • Set price agreed upon before the tattoo begins.

    • Based on the artwork, placement, and your budget.

    • Any changes or additions will be priced separately.

  • Half-Day / Full-Day Sessions

    • Flat rate pricing for an entire session.

    • Price depends on the artist, project, and budget.

    • Schedule a consultation for detailed information.

The Cost of Your Tattoo

The most common question we hear is: “How much will this tattoo cost?” The honest answer: it depends.

So many people call asking for our hourly rate—but hourly rates between shops or artists aren’t comparable. An hour of one artist’s time is not the same as an hour of another’s.

Pricing depends on things like:

  • Exact design and details

  • Placement on the body

  • Size and complexity

  • Black and grey vs. color

  • Your skin type and how it takes pigment

  • The artist’s expertise and efficiency

That’s why it’s impossible to give you a solid price without a consultation.

Hourly vs. Set Pricing vs. Session Pricing

At Aloha Tattoos, we use two main pricing models:

  • Set Price – Smaller tattoos (and some larger ones) are quoted at a set cost, agreed upon before we start. This way, you know exactly what to expect.

  • Hourly Rate – Complex tattoos that take more than 1–2 hours are billed hourly. Depending on the artist and project, rates range from $140–$250/hr.

For large, multi-session projects, we often charge by the session to make things simpler.

Why Hourly Rates Aren’t Equal from shop to shop and Artist to Artist

Many clients think cheaper hourly rates mean less expensive tattoos—but the opposite is often true.

An efficient, experienced artist might complete a piece in 1 hour that could take a less skilled artist 3 hours—and the quality still won’t compare. That “cheaper” hourly rate ends up costing you more money, more time in pain, and more touch-ups down the road.

At Aloha Tattoos, we pride ourselves on efficient, high-quality work that minimizes pain and maximizes results. Faster, better tattoos—done right the first time.

Shop Minimums

  • $100 minimum for most tattoos.

  • $120–$150 minimum for certain areas that are harder to tattoo due to skin conditions.

We’re always upfront about pricing and potential healing concerns, so you’ll never be caught off guard.

Our minimum reflects our commitment to:

  • 100% disposable supplies

  • Premium pigments

  • The highest sanitary standards

Some shops may offer cheaper minimums, but they don’t hold themselves to the same standards we do.

Quality Over Cheap

If you’re only looking for cheap, quick tattoos, we may not be the shop for you—and that’s okay.

But if you want:

…then Aloha Tattoos is the shop for you.

We don’t price match—because other shops don’t offer what we do. When you choose Aloha, you’re choosing efficiency, safety, and craftsmanship.

Scheduling a Consultation

The best way to get accurate pricing is to schedule a consultation. During your consult, we’ll go over your design, size, placement, and expectations.
